Attn. ARBORIST
Before you sign up, here is some additional information from the team at MulchSpot. Just so you know what to expect.
We are an Australian owned and operated start-up based in Melbourne. We truly appreciate our supporters, and as a token of our gratitude, when you sign up, a package will soon be on its way to your address. Inside, you’ll find a few helpful items to get you started.
At MulchSpot, our mission is to assist your business in finding convenient locations to offload your high-quality mulch. Our goal is to minimise downtime, save on travel costs, and increase your chances of getting paid for your mulch while potentially connecting you with new clients. We are a small start-up based in Melbourne, Victoria, and we also own a medium-sized tree business with 16 years of industry experience. My name is Pete, and I’ll be personally available when you join MulchSpot to address any questions or issues you may encounter on our site. Let’s keep our interactions friendly and supportive!
To ensure a smooth experience, we’d like to clarify what is allowed and what is not allowed in a MulchSpot delivery once you join up.
A typical load consists of approximately 50% wood chips and 50% green, leafy material or pine needles. It’s normal to have about 5% unchipped branches, twigs, or small sticks, and occasionally, there may be some random debris that the chipper won’t accept. However, it’s important to avoid including any of the following items in a MulchSpot load:
- Logs (unless specifically accepted by the gardener)
- Large rocks over 1 inch in size
- Wood species not accepted by the gardener
- Un-chipped branches or woody material exceeding 5% of the entire load, including long, shredded, or stringy chips resulting from a poorly adjusted chipper (please check your anvil and blade gap)
- Dirt, grass clippings, rocks, landscaping or fill materials
- Stump grindings (unless accepted by the gardener)
- Construction waste such as plywood, lumber, nails, screws, or fencing is a big No!
As an arborist, you may occasionally have loads that don’t meet MulchSpot’s requirements. In such cases, please dump the load elsewhere. Our clients expect high-quality mulch, and delivering subpar loads will only result in dissatisfaction. If you have mulched palm and you’ve purchased a site, please contact the client to confirm if they accept palm mulch. Honesty is crucial in these situations. If the client declines, we will reach out to them to confirm, and you will have the option of a refund or a credit to your account.
Now, let’s address liability. Accidents can happen, and we want to clarify the responsibilities involved:
- Arborist trucks are heavy, and if the clients driveway is thin, it could crack from the trucks weight. Any damage to a clients driveway or yard caused by an arborist’s truck is the responsibility of the property owner, not MulchSpot or the arborist, this isn’t a reason to knowingly destruct property, let the client know if the access is suitable before dumping.
- It is the arborist’s responsibility to ensure they can safely manoeuvre and drop a load in the specified location. Any damage to property (excluding the driveway) resulting from an arborist’s truck, chips, or logs they drop is the responsibility of the arborist.
- MulchSpot is not liable for any personal injuries or property damage related to the delivery of wood chips or logs. In the event of an incident, MulchSpot will facilitate communication between the parties involved, but resolving the issue independently is the responsibility of those parties. MulchSpot is not liable for fees, fines, or penalties associated with any wood chip delivery.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to assist you.
